Our practice was founded by Dr. Ashim Aggarwal, a board certified ophthalmologist. Dr. Aggarwal is committed to providing compassionate and personalized care and has been serving the Mid Michigan community for 12 years. We also have offices in Mt. Pleasant and Marshall.

Our practice specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of retinal diseases and conditions related to the retina. We focus on medically and surgically treating patients with all systemic types of retinal diseases including Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, and Retinal Tears, Holes, and Detachments. We complement our clinical care with advanced surgical treatments for our patients.
Dr. Aggarwal is an ophthalmologist specialized in retinal diseases and surgery since 1991. He has practiced his areas of interest including retina and neuroophthalmology in mid-Michigan since 2002.
With extensive clinical work in Lexington, Ky., Detroit, Mich., and New Delhi, India, Dr. Aggarwal has vast experience in treating retinal diseases. He has performed thousands of major cases of retinal surgery, lasers and injections. The spectrum of diseases includes retinal detachment, macular degeneration, diabetic eye diseases, bleeding in the eye, and symptomatic floaters. He was one of the first in mid-Michigan to adopt the technology of no stitch retina surgery, which has now become the standard.
Dr. Aggarwal is an author of multiple original papers on retinal diseases in prestigious journals. He has presented cases at scientific meetings of other eye doctors from around the country and the world. His areas of research include vascular diseases of retina and strokes of the eye.
Dr. Aggarwal received his medical degree from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, India, which lead to his MBBSand then MD postgraduate degree. He practiced as an eye surgeon and Vitreoretinal specialist in India before moving to New York in 1994 where he did research on strokes in the eye and stem cell transplants amongst other topics at Department of Neurology and Ophthalmology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. In 1997, he completed a Clinical Fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology at Henry Ford Hospital and in 2002 completed a Clinical Fellowship in the treatment and surgery of Vitreous and Retinal Diseases at the University of Kentucky.
Mid Michigan Retina was founded in 2009 with three locations in East Lansing, Mount Pleasant and Marshall. Our staff has years of experience treating retinal diseases. You will always talk with a live person when you call us. We put our patients’ care first, and have knowledgeable technicians on call for all patient questions and emergencies.
